Cordyceps for Skin: The Vitality Mushroom
Share
Cordyceps is having a moment in wellness — but its place in skincare is less about hype and more about energy. It's the mushroom behind Vital Theory, our radiance serum.
What is cordyceps?
Cordyceps militaris is a functional mushroom prized in traditional medicine for vitality and stamina. It's rich in bioactive compounds — most notably cordycepin and adenosine — that researchers have studied for their role in cellular energy and antioxidant defense.
Energy and antioxidants
Skin that looks dull and tired is often skin under oxidative stress. Research associates cordyceps extracts with antioxidant activity, helping defend skin cells from that stress. Its compounds are also studied for their role in the cellular-energy pathways that keep skin looking awake — the same reason cordyceps drew our attention in the first place.
Built for radiance
In Vital Theory, cordyceps works alongside two partners:
- Niacinamide (vitamin B3) — strong clinical evidence for supporting the skin barrier and improving the look of tone and texture.
- Tremella (snow mushroom) — a humectant that holds many times its weight in water for deep, weightless hydration.
Together: renewal and vitality — skin that looks bright, even, and well-rested.
